Teryn & Steve, Iceland Homemade Films

If you have been following A Bryan Photo for a while, you will know how special Teryn and Steve are to us. Back in June of 2010, they flew us to Calgary to shoot their wedding. When we got there, they treated us like we had been friends forever and we have been friends ever since. We sent our first ever Homemade Films kit along with them on their honeymoon to Victoria, British Columbia. Because they were naturally such great shooters, their footage blew us away and set the tone for the future of Homemade Films. We we thrilled when they contacted us in December to tell us of their trip to Iceland and we found ourselves as excited to get their film back as if we had shot it ourselves.

This is, after all, the reason why we do Homemade Films. These moments are extremely special to Teryn & Steve that demand preservation. We can’t physically be there yet still feel we can help tell the story of their lives… the moments that are beautiful and quiet and moving and worth reliving over and over again.

We hope you enjoy these films as much as we do. To us life is beautiful, and we are happy to be a part of showing that to you.

Enjoy!

Julia & Nathan, Honeymoon Part 2

For the second leg of their honeymoon vacation, Julia & Nathan did a tour of the south. They stopped and visited our team at our studio in Birmingham, Alabama. Next they went to the beautiful Blackberry Farm by way of Chattanooga, stopping along the way to eat ice cream and walk about in the rain. Lastly, they ended in the Nashville and enjoyed the sights and sounds of the Music City.

Julia & Nathan, Honeymoon Part 1

Julia & Nathan rented our Homemade Films camera to take with them on their Honeymoon. Because this was such a special trip and incredible moment in their lives, they wanted to capture it in a way that would help preserve it in their memories. For the first part of their honeymoon, they went to Miami, Florida to relax and enjoy the relief from wedding planning. Next week we will show you the continuation of their trip as the toured through the south, going through Birmingham, Blackberry Farm, and ending in Nashville.

We love their approach to shooting Super 8. They love having fun and it certainly shows through the footage. I personally love the track and think it adds to the quirkiness and charm of the film.

Enjoy!

Natalie & Brynn, Homemade Films

We are so excited that Natalie and Brynn decided to rent our Homemade Films kit to document their wedding. The kit is an amazing offering for couples who want to pass the Super 8 camera among friends during a wedding weekend. We love seeing the comfort level the subjects have with the person filming. It is why we aim to shoot like the uncle. We love this film and hope that more couples rent the kit for their wedding in the future.

The Barker Brides

The Barker Family has a special place in our hearts at A Bryan Photo. A few years ago, we shot the whole family in their home of New York City and were enthralled with how close they are with one another. Last year, one of the daughters, Annie, booked the team to shoot her wedding in March at Notre Dame. After seeing the final Super 8 film, Julia then booked me to capture her wedding in New York City.

Both weddings were different in style but shared a common theme of how important their families are to them. There were also times where I felt I was taken in and embraced as one of their own. I can’t wait to see, years down the road, how their lives will be documented and hope that I will be lucky enough to continue to be a part of it.
