This past fall I was in New York for a wedding, and one night I spent some time with my lifelong friend Jeremy, who has lived there for years. You may remember Jeremy from these posts. He and his wife Emily happened to be expecting their first child “any day.” As the night wore on, Jeremy finally headed for home well after midnight. His parting comment as he left was, “Who knows, maybe I’ll be a dad later tonight.” Seven hours later I received a text from him announcing the birth of his daughter, Mabel! I grabbed my Rollei and hopped on the subway towards their hospital near Columbus Circle. I was proud to be the first to take their family portrait and to witness such an important moment in my friend’s life. These are a few favorites from the one roll of high speed film that I shot.
