The Altamont School, Birmingham
This past spring I teamed up with my friend, Claire Cormany, to produce a new look-book & website for The Altamont School. Claire & I worked together a few years ago on Portico, a monthly Birmingham lifestyle magazine. I have always loved Claire’s layouts and design and how they complement my images. When Altamont hired me to photograph the school, I was very persistent that they bring Claire on board as well (your images are only as good as how they are presented, right?!).
I’m so proud of this project and the freedom that the administration let us have while documenting their amazing institution. We didn’t plan or stage any photos. The school gave me complete access to the campus. When I walked the halls and visited the classrooms, I was so impressed by the unique way the whole school operated: a student body that was truly diverse, the great respect that teachers had for students (and vice versa). The school was better off for allowing me to document the true nature of the school.
Johnson Family, Thanksgiving
We spent this past Thanksgiving with my family in Atlanta. My wife, Ashley, loves to cook and volunteered to cook the entire dinner for 25 of my family members. My brother Craig’s wife, Kari, provided all of the decor for the meal. The combination of these two ladies’ talents created an incredible experience for everyone that won’t be forgotten.
Check out photos from our Thanksgiving two years ago.
