
This past year we have had the privilege of going through a rebrand with Matchstic, a Brand Identity House in Atlanta. While our current brand is relatively strong in the eyes of our clients and followers, it didn’t communicate the overall story of A Bryan Photo like we wanted. Matchstic assured us that the changes to our brand would be evolutionary in nature and the core “look” of our company would remain intact.

The current logo was nice but didn’t have any depth… simply three angles of a camera not even specifically connected to our work. We wanted to keep the analog feel but with an updated and more sophisticated look. We gave Matchstic freedom to take it from there.

With a mission to give purpose to our “look”, they created hand-drawn illustrations based on the actual cameras in the A Bryan Photo arsenal. Also, the illustration style harkens back to the line art of letterpress and hand-crafted printing methods. Lastly, we added the word “Birmingham” because our location in the American South influences our style of photography and personality as a studio. The new mark (or marks) point us in the direction of the story we hope to tell daily with our viewers.

You may have noticed small uses of the new mark and type sets on the blog or on printed materials you received in the mail from us. We will slowly implement the new brand throughout this spring, the culmination being an incredible new website due to arrive in April. Keep an eye out for blog posts on how this refresh is affecting our approach and deliverables.
