Keep it Coming for the Kids of the DD Dliwayo School!

We just hit $2,000 and its only been 16 hours since the original post! I'm seriously blown away by the generosity of the online community. My new goal is for us to raise $10,000 grand before tomorrow night for these amazing kids. What do you think? Ridiculous? Too lofty or too easy? You guys don't even know what kind of difference you are going to make. These kids will be the future of South Africa, some of the only advocates of hope in a nation decimated by fear and death ( 60% of the students at theDD Dliwayo School live with their grandparents or siblings because their parents have died of HIV or AIDS ). We got to go to the Civic Center in Joburg and hear many city council members talking about the future of this city and nation. They were expressing that one big problem is that because of poverty and HIV the kids become a liability to the nation at such a young age. By giving to the students of the DD Dliwayo School, you have a chance to help raise up children who will be a blessing to the community of Joburg and South Africa . Children who will influence their friends, neighborhoods and family. These kids have so much promise yet still so much need.

On another note, people have been asking about sizes. The guys shirts run pretty normal in size and the girls shirt is very much a fitted tee. I'm not going to say it runs small, but it is the type of shirt you would wear out. Its not the type of shirt you wear with your pajamas, but instead to dinner and a movie. Does that help? Actually, click here to see what they look like on the American Apparel website. Does that help?
Also I don't know other ways to give money other than pay pal so if any of you out there have some advice, please let a comment for those that can't seem to use it. If you want to send a check to our studio:
1710 2nd Ave N
#509
Birmingham AL 35203
If you are sending a check, please email me at info@abryanphoto.com and let me know what the amount you are sending so that I can add it to the total amount that I give the principal on Monday.

I also noticed that some of you want to give but can't give $30. You have to understand that every bit of this money counts! $5 will mean 3 kids don't have to share a text book anymore. That is huge! Anything you can contribute can change so much.
If any of you want to offer something to people and have the proceeds go to the DD Dliwayo School, I will link to your site from my blog! What do you think?
My heart is so full on this Thanksgiving day. Ash and Noah, I miss you so much. 1-4-3.

Wow, $2,000, that would buy a lot of supplies. I'm so glad people have been able to help.
If we did $2000 overnight, i think for sure we can spread the word and get another $8000! I am optimistic! If we each donated $30 all we need is another 265 people to donate!! spread the word!
I know there are tons of Hanson fans out there that are willing to help.... I am one of them!
I am really happy you gave us this opportunity to give so easily to something that you can see right in front of you now. It makes it so much more real than just giving to charity. I am excited to get my shirt. Thank you for all the updates and photos - I check your blog religiously!

My name is Nikki, I want to think you for posting pictures of the enviroment the children live in. I would love to see more. Maybe you and Hanson can get a book publiched with the images from the schools, hospitals and area and have the money donated. You have great photos, and Hanson could write about the causes and what can be done to help.
I posted about it on my livejournal and begged my friends to take a look and give what they can. I didn't get any responses, but that doesn't mean they didn't click the link and donate. I'm crossing my fingers that they did and trying to think of more people I can ask.
I've seen posts about it all over internet communities in the last few hours, and I really hope that many more people will see your blog and donate. Especially those in the USA and especially today of all days.
Thank you for giving us this oppertunity to do something real and worth while.

quick logistical question - what exactly is the deadline for the donations, preferably our time? i've told tons of people but want to make sure i have the deadline clear for this check you are going to present. thanks bryan!
awesome work :)
I love that by purchasing a tee-shirt we are able to help, but what I really find moving is the fact that these children live in this environment yet they are still so happy. The look of joy on their face gives me hope that one day we will all be able to come together and end the poverty and AIDS in Africa. Hanson was right, these children really are inspirational. This is awesome! So glad I could donate and buy a shirt.
I find hope. :)

CONGRATULATIONS ON THE $2,000 RAISED! :D
I'm gonna talk to a few friends/Hanson fans involved in the Ohana Project to see if we have something to sell ASAP and have the proceeds go to the school. It's not a sure thing, but I'll will definitely mention something at the forums and see what ideas we can come up with until Sunday.
Check your email tomorrow for information on the Ohana Project. I'm sure you're gonna like it! :)
And as usual, thanks so much for being so inspirational. The way you captured these children renewed my hopes in the future. And in the world. And in people. And, believe it or not, in myself.
